No. No registration is needed. You arrive on the site, click "Start" and you're good to go. We don't ask for name, email, or phone number.

If you add interests (up to 5), the system first tries to match you with someone who shares at least one common interest. If there's no one, you're connected to the first available user in the queue.

Yes. The interface is optimized for mobile with an adapted design: chat as a TikTok-style overlay, local video in a draggable picture-in-picture, and a button to switch between front and rear cameras.

All modern browsers that support WebRTC: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, Brave, Opera. On mobile, Chrome and Safari work well. Very old browsers are not supported.

Check that:

  • Your browser has permission to access the camera (check the camera icon in the address bar)
  • No other app is already using your camera (Zoom, Teams, FaceTime..)
  • You're using HTTPS (the camera doesn't work over HTTP)
  • Your browser is up to date

No. Video and audio go directly between you and your partner via WebRTC (peer-to-peer) — they don't pass through our servers. Text messages are relayed in real time by the server but are never recorded or stored. Once you disconnect, everything disappears.

No. OmeFree is a completely independent project. It is not affiliated with any other video chat service.

Click the "Next" button in the controls to disconnect from your current partner and find someone else. You can also press the Esc key on your keyboard.

Yes. During a chat, you have buttons to enable/disable your camera and microphone at any time. Your partner will see a black screen if you turn off your camera.
