Privacy Policy

OmeFree has no account system. We don't ask for any personal information. Here's a transparent look at what happens technically when you use the service.
What our server handles
The OmeFree server (Node.js + Socket.IO) does only the following:
- Matching — putting you in a queue and connecting you with another available user
- WebRTC signaling — relaying offers/answers and ICE candidates to establish the direct video connection between you and your partner
- Text message relay — forwarding your text messages to your partner in real time (messages are not stored)
- Typing indicator — notifying your partner when you're typing
- Online counter — displaying the number of connected users
What we do NOT do
Temporary data in memory
While you're connected, the server keeps in memory (RAM, not in a database):
- Your Socket.IO ID — a random ID generated on connection, deleted on disconnect
- Your interests — if you added any, they're used for matching and disappear when you leave
- Your current partner's ID — to know who to relay your messages to
As soon as you disconnect, everything is deleted from the server's memory. There is no database.
Video and audio (WebRTC)
Your video and audio go directly from your browser to your partner's browser via WebRTC. The OmeFree server never sees your media streams. It only handles "signaling": exchanging technical information so both browsers can connect to each other.
Note: due to the nature of WebRTC, your IP address is visible to your chat partner (that's how the direct connection works). This is the case on all peer-to-peer video chat platforms.
