Best Random Video Chat Apps and Sites: What Each One Asks of You
Random video chat sites look alike on the surface and differ a lot underneath: whether you must sign in, which filters are free, what the paid tier removes, and what the terms say about subscriptions. This page compares eleven services on those points. Checked on the services' own websites and store listings on October 5 and 6, 2026.
We did not test these apps ourselves. Everything below comes from each service's own pages and store listings, and we link the sources at the end. Plans and prices change, so treat this as a map and check the current terms before you pay for anything.
The comparison in one table
| Service | Where it runs | Account to start | Gender or country filter | Paid tier |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| OmeFree | Browser | No | None | None |
| Chatroulette | Browser, iOS, Android | No sign-in step on the home page | Not stated on the home page | Not stated on the home page |
| OmeTV | Browser, iOS, Android | Yes, sign-in required | Country and gender selection | Not stated on the home page |
| Emerald Chat | Browser | Yes, email and password | Gender, country and language filters are paid | Subscription tiers |
| Monkey | Android, web | Yes, Google sign-in | Preferences with Monkey Plus | Monkey Plus |
| Azar | Browser, apps | Not stated | Gender and region filters cost Gems | Gems |
| Shagle | Browser (no app) | No, per its site | Gender and location filters are premium | Premium membership |
| Chatspin | Browser, Android | No, choose a gender and start | Gender and country filters with Plus | Plus (also removes ads) |
| Camsurf | Browser, Android | No, choose a gender and start | Menu lists Everyone, Males, Females, Couples | Plus |
| Chatrandom | Browser, iOS, Android | No, choose a gender and start | Gender and country filters, Plus unlocks all | Plus |
| Camloo | Browser | Not stated | Gender and country filters are free | Caml tokens |
"Not stated" means the service's home page does not say, not that the answer is no. Most of them ask you to confirm that you are 18 or older before you start.
Pick by what you need
You want to start with no account
OmeFree, Chatroulette, Shagle, Chatspin, Camsurf and Chatrandom let you start from the home page. OmeTV, Emerald Chat and Monkey ask you to sign in first.
You want a gender or country filter without paying
Camloo is the one service here that lists a gender filter and a country search among its basic, free functions. On Shagle, Chatspin, Chatrandom, Camsurf and Emerald Chat the filters sit behind a paid tier. Azar sells the same filters for Gems. Camloo's own FAQ adds that it keeps filtering light on purpose: "heavy filtering is against our policy". See the full gender filter comparison.
You care about moderation
Chatroulette says its video is checked by automated systems with human review and that it has zero tolerance for sexually suggestive content. Emerald Chat says it uses AI plus human moderation. These are the services' own statements. What you can check yourself is simpler: is there a Report button in the chat, and is the age rule stated?
You want to chat on a phone
Every service in the table works in a mobile browser except where noted. Shagle says plainly that it has no iOS or Android app. Camsurf lists an Android app. OmeTV, Chatroulette and Chatrandom have iOS and Android apps, and Monkey has an Android app (iPhone users use its web version).
You want no ads
Chatspin advertises zero ads with Plus. OmeFree is free and supported by ads. If ads matter to you, check the free tier of each service before you decide.
Four services, one set of terms
When we read the terms of service of Shagle, Camsurf, Chatrandom and Chatspin, they turned out to be almost the same document: 95 to 99 percent of the eight-word sequences are identical. They describe the same system of tokens, virtual gifts and auto-renewing subscriptions. The text we read does not name the operating company, so we cannot say who is behind them. What it means for you is practical:
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel before the end of the billing period. If you bought through an app store, you cancel in that store.
- Purchases of tokens, gifts and subscriptions are final and non-refundable, except where the law requires otherwise.
- Tokens are digital items with no cash value, and the terms let the company change or remove virtual items.
If you try one of these services, expect the same rules on the others, and read the purchase screen before you pay.
Reading safety claims
Almost every service in this list says it is safe, moderated and free of bots. Those claims are marketing until you can see them working. Four checks you can do in two minutes:
- Find the Report button inside a chat, not on a separate page.
- Look for the age rule. The better services state 18+ before you start and again in the terms.
- Read what is collected. The privacy policy, or on mobile the store's data safety section, lists data types and whether they are shared.
- Look for pressure to pay. Pop-ups that interrupt a chat to sell a plan are a design choice, not a safety feature.
The general advice is the same everywhere: do not share personal details, do not click links, and leave when a chat feels wrong. More in a safe Omegle alternative.
Where OmeFree fits, and where it does not
OmeFree is a free browser site with video chat and text chat, no account, a Next button, a Report option and camera blur. It does not have gender or country filters, interest matching, an app or a paid tier, and the interface is in English only. Video goes directly between the two browsers when possible and through a relay when not. If you want filters, the services above that offer them are the better fit. If you want to start with nothing to sign up for, OmeFree and the other no-account services in the table are the closest to the original Omegle.
