Omegle Video Call Free: Random Video Chat in Your Browser
An Omegle video call was simple: you pressed a button, a stranger appeared, and you talked. OmeFree gives you the same thing in a browser tab, with no account and nothing to download.
This page explains what happens when you start a video chat, what you need, and how to make the first thirty seconds go well.
How the free video call works
- Press Video chat. You confirm that you are 18 or older. That is the only form.
- Allow your camera and microphone. The browser asks for permission once. Without it, video chat cannot start.
- Get matched. OmeFree connects you to the next available person. Video chat has its own queue, separate from text chat.
- Talk, skip or report. Next ends the call and finds someone else. Report flags a person who breaks the rules.
What you need
- A device with a camera and microphone: a laptop, a phone or a tablet.
- A recent browser: Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Edge.
- A connection that can stream video. Wi-Fi or a good mobile signal both work.
You do not need an app, an account or a payment method. OmeFree is free to use.
Peer-to-peer video, with a fallback
On OmeFree, video travels directly between your browser and the other person's, using WebRTC. The site's servers handle the introduction and the chat signalling. If the two browsers cannot reach each other directly, a relay server forwards the stream, so the call still connects.
You can also blur your camera during a call. The other person still hears you, but your picture is blurred until you turn the blur off.
Make the first thirty seconds count
- Check your light. A lamp in front of you beats a window behind you.
- Say something specific. "Where are you calling from?" gets a better answer than "hi".
- Look at the camera now and then. It reads as attention.
- Move on when it is not working. Pressing Next is normal and expected.
Video chat on a phone
OmeFree runs in the mobile browser. Open the site, press Video chat, and allow camera access when your phone asks. You can switch between the front and back camera during a call. If the picture freezes, check your signal and reload the page.
If the camera or microphone does not work
- The browser did not ask for permission. Click the lock or camera icon next to the address bar and set Camera and Microphone to Allow, then reload.
- On iPhone. Use Safari. If it still fails, open Settings, then Safari, then Camera and Microphone, and set them to Ask or Allow.
- Black screen. Another app or tab may be using the camera. Close it and reload the page.
- The other person cannot hear you. Check that the microphone is not muted on OmeFree or on your device.
- Nobody appears. Quiet hours have fewer people online. Try again later or switch to text chat.
Video chat from your country
OmeFree is global, so the person you meet can be from anywhere. After a match, it shows the other person's country. Local pages: the USA, the UK or Canada.
When you would rather type
Not every day is a camera day. The text chat needs no camera or microphone, and you can start it from omefree.com/?chat=text.
